- Have an exact job you want. Casting a large net may seem like a good idea but you will be overlooked by recruiters looking for specific matches. Thanks to online resources like LinkedIn, employers can reach a much larger talent pool, so they can spend less time training by finding someone specific to their needs. A recruiter finding someone for a specific role is not searching “Sales Representative” they are searching “Account Executive Mid-Market SaaS”. Not “software engineer,” but “senior front end developer javascript typescript react…” The point is in order to let your job find you, you have to show anyone who views you that you are a perfect match.
- Filter linkedin job dates to the last 7 days (prefferably 24hr if enough opportunity).
- Turn off open to work banner on Fridays and back on Mondays. This shows recruiters you are fresh on the market and ready to work NOW.
- Make sure to be very specific with your ideal skills used on the job. No recruiters will take the time to figure out what you are best at. You have to show them.
- If a job has been reposted on LinkedIn, odds are it is kept up to have the illusion of hiring. I would not waste your time with these applications. Stick to newly posted jobs.
